Accounts, wallets, and currencies

Add accounts, update balances, and work with multiple currencies in Balansly.

Accounts and wallets are the real-world starting point of your financial plan. Add the places where you keep money that should be included in the total.

What you can add

For example:

  • bank cards and current accounts;
  • cash wallets;
  • savings accounts;
  • foreign-currency accounts;
  • cryptocurrency wallets.

Use names you will recognise later, such as “Daily spending,” “Savings,” or “EUR cash.”

Add an account

  1. Open the Accounts tab.
  2. Select the add button.
  3. Enter a name and the current balance.
  4. Choose the currency.
  5. Add an optional note if useful.
  6. Select Save.

Once saved, the account contributes to the total balance for that currency.

Update a balance

On the Accounts tab, select an account to open its balance update form. You can reach the same form from the account menu by choosing “Update balance.”

Enter the actual amount and save the change.

Each update adds a new point to the balance history. Earlier values are available through the History action.

Multiple currencies

Balansly keeps the balance and budget for each currency separate. Amounts in pounds, euros, dollars, and cryptocurrencies are not combined using an automatic exchange rate.

The primary currency makes navigation easier and determines which budget appears first, but it does not convert accounts held in other currencies.

Things to check

  • Enter the actual balance, not an available credit limit.
  • Do not create two accounts for the same funds; this would overstate the total.
  • After a transfer between your own accounts, update both balances.
  • Before a large financial decision, make sure important accounts are current.

Next, add your future income and expenses.
