Frequently asked questions
Answers about accounts, transactions, forecasts, and data in Balansly.
Do I need to record every purchase?
No. Focus on recurring, significant, and known future transactions, then update actual account balances periodically.
How often should I update balances?
There is no fixed schedule. Weekly is a useful starting point, as is updating after a large unplanned payment, income change, or transfer between your accounts.
Why did the forecast change?
It recalculates after balances or planned transactions change. Check amounts, currencies, dates, frequencies, and paused items.
How do I plan an irregular payment?
Create a one-off expense with an estimated date. Use a yearly frequency for an annual payment.
Why are currencies not combined?
Balansly calculates each currency separately and does not apply automatic exchange rates.
Can I temporarily remove a transaction?
Pause it, then resume it later. Delete it only when it will not be needed again.
What if Balansly does not match my bank?
Update actual balances under Accounts, then review variance from plan.
How can I check whether my budget can handle a large purchase?
Add the purchase as a one-off expense and compare the forecast in several possible months. See Test a financial decision for the full process.
Can deleted data be recovered?
No. Confirm deletion only when you are certain.
Where is my financial data stored?
On your device. See Data and privacy and the privacy policy.
